Beautiful Images of A Woman Giving Birth Tell Unique Stories
Every woman’s journey to becoming a mommy is uniquely hers, but there are aspects that all moms can relate to. The scientific truths about what’s happening to the body when pregnant and about to give birth will remain the same regardless of race and age. This post, however, is not about science. This post is about the experience.
So what does a woman giving birth to baby feel? Pictures will tell you, and these are some powerful images from Denver-based birth photographer Monet Nicole.
“A Giant, Fiery Poop!”
Pushing out a baby feels like taking a giant poop! It’s the one that you’ll have to push out after eating 1000 hot peppers, and a (whole) watermelon. If someone tells you that pushing is the best part, don’t believe them. Piece of advice, have an amazing support system to help you get through labor – and still sane.
“An Out-of-Body Experience”
Never underestimate the strength of a mother giving birth to baby. She can withstand 57 del (units) of pain during childbirth, whereas the human body is supposed to only bear up to 45 del (units) of pain!
Some moms say that childbirth was an intense, out-of-body experience wherein time has no meaning. It would seem like time has stopped, or dragged on, and that the pain would be permanent – but it’s not. Before you know it, hours have passed and you have your pink-cheeked-labor-of-love baby in your arms.
“An Experience of Every Feeling and Emotion”
For other moms, giving birth was feeling every emotion and feeling all at once. If you share it with your partner, it will be the most beautiful and unforgettable experience as you will be sharing the gift of life.
“You Get Jerked Back and Forth”
During a C-Section, your anesthesiologist will keep you awake so that you could remember the moment. There will be some pain and discomfort when administering spinal anesthesia but your body will be painless after that. You will, however, feel like you’re being jerked back and forth as the doctors try to get the baby out. But once you hear your baby’s cries, you will not be able to hold back those tears of joy, too.
“Not Like in the Books”
You may have read all the books about childbirth but the experience might be very different. You will think that you’re prepared because you have the knowledge about what will happen but laying in that delivery room will tell you that giving birth can be easier in some ways and a lot harder in other.
Labor could feel like breaking a tailbone in some. Other moms describe it as if someone was forcefully pushing from inside the spine and twisting it at the same time. Still others say that it’s like the entire nether regions have caught fire. There are also mothers who describe labor as contractions concentrated on their butts.
Regardless of how labor went, the joy of seeing your baby for the first time, of seeing the pride in your husband’s eyes, will tell you that everything you just went through was worth it. Indeed, you will choose to go through the pain all over again if it meant meeting your bundle of joy and holding him in your arms like how you’re holding him now.
What is your birthing story?
